Barney Wright grew up in New Jersey and came to Ohio for college. There he met his wife, a 5th generation Ohioan, and became convinced that southwest Ohio was the place for his future. After they graduated from the College of Wooster, they married between his second and third year of Law School. Following his graduation from Tulane University with a Juris Doctor degree, they settled in Ohio where they have raised their son and daughter. They have five grandchildren and attend Antioch Church.
In his professional life Mr. Wright has spent almost 40 years in the trust banking business, the vast majority of which was spent as the head of the Trust Department at LCNB National Bank. He led the growth of the Department from trust assets of $3 million to over $300 million and the staff from one part time person to 15. In addition to the supervision of the investment of over $200 million in trust account assets, for the last 20 years of his time at the Bank he was also the Investment Officer for the Bank, managing over $300 million in Bank assets.
Barney Wright has been involved in numerous professional and community activities. A brief summary of them is all that space allows. He is a member and past president of the Cincinnati Estate Planning Council, a past member of the Cincinnati Financial Analysts Society, past chair of the Trust Investment Committee of the Ohio Bankers League, and a member of several Bar Associations. He is currently an active member of the Legislative Committee of the County Treasurers Association of Ohio and has testified on behalf of that Association before committees of the Ohio House and Senate.
He is a past or present trustee of the Warren County Historical Society, the Warren County United Way (also Treasurer), the Warren County Area Progress Council (also Treasurer), the Area Progress Council’s Project Excellence, the Quaker Heights Foundation, the Friends Nursing Home, and the Warren County Foundation. He was the Chair of the Board of the Community College of Warren County, a pilot program exploring the creation of a community college in the county, and subsequently served as the Warren County Commissioners’ appointee to the Sinclair Community College Board of Trustees from 2005 to 2017. He was elected Chair of the Sinclair board from 2012 to 2016.
In his church Mr. Wright has served at various times in leadership as a short term missionary, a choir member, trustee, stewardship chair, elder, financial advisor, and member of the missions task force. He has been a trustee and treasurer of an international, interdenominational missionary society and has also served as a board member and chair of the board of a church related college and the foundation that supports it.
